Pakistan's President Asif Ali Zardari has returned to the country after wrapping up a private visit to the United Kingdom, according to Geo News and the Associated Press of Pakistan. Before leaving, he told reporters he was in good health, The News Pakistan reported, saying simply that he was well.
His time in London had prompted widespread public discussion, with Dawn describing the president's UK tour as setting tongues wagging. The News Pakistan reported that his departure home came amid that speculation.
The visits were described by Geo News and the Associated Press of Pakistan as private in nature, and no official engagements were cited in the reporting. Zardari's health and his movements have drawn attention in Pakistan, where the presidency is largely ceremonial but remains politically significant.
Separately, Firstpost reported that the Pakistan Peoples Party, which Zardari co-chairs, rejected any move to divide Sindh province. According to that report, former foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the president's son, backed the province's territorial integrity.

Zardari has held the presidency since March 2024, a role he also occupied from 2008 to 2013. Details of his London trip have not been set out in the reports reviewed here, and neither the presidency nor the government has issued a fuller statement on the visit.
What to watch next: whether the president's office releases any formal account of the UK trip, and how the Sindh debate develops after the PPP's stated position.
