South Africa and New Zealand will meet in the United States to decide their series, eNCA reports. The fixture, described by the outlet as groundbreaking, is billed as the decider in the teams' rivalry series.
According to eNCA, both sides are ready for the clash. The match is set to be staged in the US, with SA Rugby magazine reporting on the financial side of the Springboks' appearance in Baltimore.
Daily Maverick frames the game as one with everything to play for, reporting that South Africa is chasing a series win in what it calls the Greatest Rivalry. Planet Rugby has published a prediction that South Africa's bench forwards, known as the Bomb Squad, will carry Rassie Erasmus's team to victory in the decider.
Talk that South Africa might not treat the American fixture seriously has been dismissed. SABC News reports that lock Eben Etzebeth pushed back on that suggestion, rejecting the idea that the Springboks are not taking the game seriously.
The buildup reflects the growing push to stage major rugby fixtures in the United States, with the series outcome resting on a single match away from both teams' usual strongholds.
What to watch next: whether South Africa can close out the series in the US, and how the All Blacks respond in a winner-takes-all setting.
