Edwin Sifuna is set to lead a day of political activity in Nairobi as the Linda Mwananchi movement holds a rally in the city, the-star.co.ke reports. The Star published Sifuna's itinerary alongside coverage of the group's Nairobi programme.
The rally has drawn attention beyond the capital's streets. Daily Nation described the moment as a significant test in Nairobi for Sifuna, James Orengo and Babu, while the Standard reported that Linda Mwananchi set out its plan for the gathering and that ODM rejected claims it had disrupted the event.
Ahead of the rally, the Star also reported that Linda Mwananchi engaged residents in Eastlands, publishing photos from that outreach. Nairobi's police leadership separately explained a ban on large political gatherings in the central business district, according to Kenyans.co.ke, a restriction that shaped how the day's events could be staged.
The combination of a major opposition-linked rally and tighter rules on CBD assembly places Nairobi at the centre of the country's current political contest. The presence of Sifuna, Orengo and Babu in one programme gives the event weight beyond a single constituency, and the dispute over disruption claims adds a further point of friction between organisers and ODM.
What to watch next: how the rally proceeds under the CBD restrictions, and whether the disruption allegations are addressed further by the parties involved.
