A 20-year-old man in India who took it upon himself to clean a heavily polluted river has received a job offer from a Dutch CEO, according to Hindustan Times. The man, identified as Bittu Tabahi, reportedly cleared trash from the Ajnar River in Madhya Pradesh without any outside funding.

The offer came after videos of Tabahi’s before-and-after transformation of the river went viral online, Hindustan Times reports. The Dutch CEO publicly invited Tabahi to come and work for their company, praising the effort and initiative shown by the young man.

Tabahi’s work drew attention not only for the scale of the cleanup but also for the conditions under which it was done. According to The Times of India, he acted alone, without financial support, and faced potential health risks while handling the waste. In comments reported by the outlet, Tabahi expressed confusion over why people discard garbage into the river in the first place.

The cleanup effort was widely shared across social media, with some users contrasting Tabahi’s actions with those who merely post videos online. Hindustan Times quoted a sentiment that Tabahi did not just make videos but also did the actual work.

The Ajnar River is located in Madhya Pradesh, a central Indian state. The river had reportedly been filled with trash before Tabahi began his solo effort.

The job offer from the Dutch CEO has not yet been publicly accepted or declined by Tabahi, according to the reports. It remains unclear whether he will take up the position or continue his environmental work locally.
