The Hollywood Walk of Fame will install a new star for Dolly Parton after her existing one was vandalized, according to RTE.ie. The decision was reported on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, by the Irish broadcaster.
RTE.ie reports that the replacement star is being prepared following the damage to Parton’s original marker on the famous Los Angeles walkway. The outlet did not provide specific details on the nature of the vandalism or a timeline for when the new star will be unveiled.
Parton, the country music legend known for hits like "Jolene" and "9 to 5," received her Walk of Fame star in 1984. The honor recognizes her contributions to the entertainment industry, spanning music, film, and television over several decades. Her star is a popular tourist attraction, and incidents of damage to Walk of Fame markers are rare but not unprecedented.
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which manages the Walk of Fame, typically handles repairs or replacements for damaged stars. However, RTE.ie’s report does not specify which organization is overseeing the replacement or whether any suspect has been identified in the vandalism case.
The new star will ensure that Parton’s legacy remains prominently displayed along Hollywood Boulevard. Fans and visitors can expect the replacement to match the original design, featuring the iconic brass and terrazzo style used for all honorees.
What to watch next: Further updates from the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce on the installation date and any security measures to prevent future damage.
