Presbyterian Boys' Senior High School, Legon, known as PRESEC, has won the National Science and Maths Quiz for a ninth time, Graphic Online reports. The outlet published the result on Friday, 11 September 2026.
The win extends PRESEC's record in the competition. Coverage of the 2026 edition described the school's run as a record-chasing campaign, and NewsGhana reported that Dr. Ofori Sarpong attended the contest at Legon.
Reaction to the result has come from several quarters. Pulse.com.gh reports that Ablakwa promised the winning team a new bus and a holiday. GhanaWeb reports that Kissi Agyebeng and Robert Coleman have backed the Accra Academy team to return stronger in 2027, indicating Accra Academy was the other school in the final.
The National Science and Maths Quiz is a long-running competition among senior high schools in Ghana. PRESEC-Legon's tally now stands at nine titles, the most held by any school, according to Graphic Online.
What to watch next: whether the promised bus and holiday are delivered, and how Accra Academy builds toward the 2027 edition.
