PLDT High Speed Hitters defeated the Creamline Cool Smashers to secure the bronze medal in the Premier Volleyball League, according to Daily Tribune. The match took place on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.
The win denied Creamline a spot in the Finals, as reported by the Philippine News Agency. PLDT also spoiled Creamline's bid to reach the championship round, with the Cool Smashers settling for fourth place after the loss.
Daily Tribune described the result as a "consolation prize" for PLDT, who had fallen short of the title match earlier in the tournament. The High Speed Hitters' victory marked their second consecutive win over Creamline in the bronze series, according to the PVL's official website.
PLDT's Jaja Santiago was a key contributor in the match, helping her team claim the bronze, as reported by ABS-CBN. Santiago's performance drew praise from her teammate Savi, who told sports.inquirer.net that the bronze medal "feels like gold" given the effort required to secure it.
The result closes out the PVL season for both teams. Creamline, a perennial contender, will likely regroup after missing the Finals, while PLDT can build momentum from their strong finish heading into the next conference.
Fans will now look ahead to the PVL Finals, where the top two teams will battle for the championship title.
