Sachin Pilot is under pressure to bridge internal divisions within the Rajasthan Congress unit before a scheduled visit by party leader Rahul Gandhi, according to NDTV.

The report, published Sunday, indicates that Pilot’s immediate task is to bring rival factions together in the state. The visit by Gandhi is expected to test whether Pilot can deliver a unified front after months of public friction between his supporters and those aligned with Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.

NDTV’s coverage links this challenge to a broader organisational reshuffle announced by the Congress high command. As part of that shake-up, Pilot was handed responsibility for Punjab, which goes to the polls soon. The same exercise moved senior leader Randeep Surjewala to Gujarat and transferred Bhupesh Baghel to Assam, according to The Hindu.

The Times of India reported that party factions have broadly accepted Pilot’s new role as the Punjab handler, offering some relief to the leadership. However, The Wire described the pre-poll changes as a mix of incentives and warnings, with Punjab as the central focus.

For Pilot, the Punjab assignment appears to shape his approach in Rajasthan. NDTV noted that his handling of one state could influence his political standing in the other, particularly as he seeks to maintain relevance in his home state while taking on added responsibilities elsewhere.

The immediate question is whether Pilot can secure visible unity among Rajasthan’s warring groups before Rahul Gandhi arrives. A failure to do so would likely renew questions about the party’s internal management in a state it currently governs.
