MediaMarkt and Saturn have launched a joint VAT promotion that runs until 18 October 2026, according to Giga. The two retailers are lowering the price of a large share of their stocked items by the VAT portion, which works out to roughly 16 percent off the gross price. The reduced prices only appear for shoppers who are signed in as myMediaMarkt or mySaturn members.

Why it matters

The event is one of the chain's most heavily promoted sales formats, and Giga notes that this edition follows unusually quickly on the previous one, a point also picked up by Nordbayern. For buyers, the headline "19 percent off" is misleading: the discount is calculated from the gross price rather than subtracted directly, so the real saving is 15.966 percent. Giga puts the effective reduction at about 16 percent.

How the discount works

Membership in the loyalty programme is free and requires only an email address, according to Giga. Without signing in, shoppers will not see the promotional prices at all, whether they are browsing online or in a store. App users get access to the promotion earlier than those using the website or visiting a branch, Giga reports.

The promotion covers a broad spread of categories rather than a single product line. Giga lists laptops, televisions and household appliances among the areas affected, and says most items held in stock are included. Shoppers looking for a full picture are directed to the dedicated promotion pages at both retailers.

Sample prices reported by Giga

Giga highlights several products as examples of the pricing during the event. The Google Pixel 10a with 256 GB storage in Obsidian and dual SIM is listed at 461.34 euros, down from 549.00 euros, a reduction of about 16 percent.

The Ninja DualZone XL air fryer, with a 9.5-litre capacity and two drawers, appears at 142.02 euros against a previous 169.00 euros. The Asus Vivobook 16 Flip is shown at 839.50 euros, reduced from 999.00 euros. The LG 55QNED72B6B QNED television in 55 inches is priced at 419.33 euros, compared with 499.00 euros before the promotion.

Giga's listing also shows a second Google handset entry at 351.22 euros, marked down from 417.95 euros, alongside a separate item reduced from 425.95 euros to 459.99 euros across two price points. Other outlets have framed the event differently: delamar.de describes the offers as cheaper than Black Friday, while Filmstarts calls it a weekend discount battle and PCGH leads on the 19 percent framing.

What to watch

The promotion closes on 18 October 2026, so shoppers have the weekend to decide. The main practical step is registering for myMediaMarkt or mySaturn before checking prices, since the discount stays invisible to guests.
