JUMP WITHOUT LOOKING
(The Confident Leap on God’s Word)

TO THE BIBLE – Hebrews 11:1
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
The message from Tyler arrived just after lunch.
It was short and public in the class group chat:
“Library. After school. Let’s settle this. Bring the church girl if you want.”
Jordan showed Maya the screen without saying anything at first. His jaw was tight.
“This is it,” he said finally. “He’s calling it out. If I don’t show up, I look weak. If I do show up… I don’t know what happens.”
Maya read the message twice. The old pressure stirred again—the same wind they had talked about on Saturday. The difference was that this time the wave was right in front of them.
Jordan kept talking, voice low. “What if it turns into a bigger scene? What if the teachers get involved? What if this makes everything worse with the rest of the class? Maybe I should just ignore it and let it die.”
Maya recognised the pattern immediately. The “what if” questions. The hesitation. The careful weighing of every possible downside before any step.
She closed her locker and faced him.
“Faith isn’t a leap into the dark, Jordan. It’s a leap on the Word. You’ve been hearing the Word for days now—about love, about your words, about the Name of Jesus, about keeping your eyes on what God says instead of the pressure. This is the moment it either stays in your head or becomes action.”
Jordan shook his head. “It’s easy to talk about faith when the problem is a science project. This is different. People are watching.”
“That’s exactly when it matters,” Maya answered. “Faith doesn’t ask ‘what if it doesn’t work.’ Faith knows that if God said it, it already has substance. You don’t have to see the whole outcome before you move. You move because the Word is enough.”
They stood in the thinning hallway as the final bell approached. Other students passed them, some glancing over, already aware that something was brewing.
Jordan looked at the message again, then locked his phone.
“I still don’t feel ready,” he admitted.
“You don’t have to feel ready,” Maya said. “You just have to decide if you’re going to jump on the Word or keep standing on the ‘what ifs.’”
For a long moment Jordan said nothing. Then he took a slow breath and nodded once.
“Okay. We go. But we do it the way the Word says—not the way anger wants.”
Maya felt the shift. It wasn’t loud. It wasn’t dramatic. It was simply a decision to stop calculating every risk and start moving on what they had already received.
They walked toward the library together. The confrontation was still waiting. Tyler’s intentions were still unclear. The outcome was still unseen.
But the leap had already begun.
