Episode 15
THE CONTINUOUS REFILL
(Be Filled With The Spirit Every Day)
Tuesday, 15 September
TO THE BIBLE – Ephesians 5:18
“And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit.”
Tuesday morning started thinner than it should have.
Maya noticed it first in herself—an edge of mental fog, a quicker irritation when her locker jammed, a low resistance to opening her Bible app before leaving the house. She had prayed the night before. She had spoken words of wisdom over the history essay. But she had not refilled that morning.
By mid-morning the difference was clearer. The essay still sat unfinished in her bag. Across the classroom Tyler’s group was quieter than usual, yet every occasional glance still carried weight. The spiritual ground they had gained over the past two weeks felt present but less sharp, like a phone running on low battery.
At lunch Jordan sat down heavily.
“I prayed last night like we talked about,” he said. “Asked for wisdom on the essay and on whatever is still going on with Tyler. It helped. I got further than I expected. But this morning I woke up and just… started the day. No prayer, no nothing. By second period I already felt off again.”
Maya nodded. She had felt the same slide.
“That’s the part we keep missing,” she said. “Receiving the Holy Spirit once doesn’t mean you’re always filled. Being filled is meant to be continuous—under His influence every day, not only when we remember or when pressure hits. The Bible says to ever be filled. There’s a way to stay that way.”
Jordan frowned slightly. “How? I can’t live in a prayer meeting.”
“You stay filled by what you keep speaking and singing to yourself,” Maya answered. “Psalms, hymns, spiritual songs. Making melody in your heart while you walk to class or wait for the bus. Speaking in tongues on purpose before you start the day. It’s not about waiting for a special feeling. It’s about keeping the tank from running low.”
She paused, then added, “We handled the public challenge. We’re learning to access wisdom. But if we only fill up when something is already wrong, we keep starting from behind. The refill is supposed to be daily—before we leave the house, before the essay, before whatever Tyler’s silence turns into next.”
Jordan looked across the cafeteria. Tyler sat with his usual group, not looking their way. The social thread remained unresolved. The essay deadline still pressed closer.
“So we treat it like the workout,” he said slowly. “Not the emergency response.”
“Exactly,” Maya replied. “A continuous refill. Otherwise the edge dulls and the old pressure finds gaps again.”
They sat with that for a moment. Around them the lunch period moved on as usual. Inside, both of them recognised the quiet warning: spiritual progress without daily filling would not hold its full strength.
The essay still needed finishing.
The social atmosphere still carried unfinished tension.
But the next step was clear.
Stay filled.
On purpose.
Every day.
