The president of Nigeria's Charismatic Bishops has pushed back at critics of the group's endorsement of President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 election, Punch Newspapers reports.
According to TheCable, the bishop said he was not described as fake when he previously threw his support behind Peter Obi and Goodluck Jonathan, and used that history to answer those questioning the Tinubu decision.
Archbishop Chivir Chianson said God revealed to the group that Tinubu would win in 2027, according to Daily Post.
The endorsement has drawn public criticism. Vanguard News reports that Ejiofor criticised the Charismatic bishops over their support for Tinubu.

The episode adds to a wider debate about the role of religious leaders in Nigeria's politics, where endorsements by prominent clergy have often carried weight with voters. The bishops' group has framed its position as a matter of spiritual direction rather than partisan alignment, though the reaction from critics suggests the move will remain contested.
In a separate development, Daily Trust reports that Akume and Idris called on churches to help tackle insecurity, radicalisation and hate speech.
With the 2027 general election still ahead, attention will be on whether other religious bodies follow the Charismatic Bishops' lead or distance themselves from the endorsement, and on how the presidency responds to the growing criticism.
